Ecology Action Volunteer Events
Bike to Work
The Bike to Work Program has two large events annually; Spring Bike Week and Fall Bike to Work Day. As one of the largest grass-roots celebrations in Santa Cruz County, both Bike Week and Bike to Work Day rely heavily on volunteers.
Volunteering for Bike to Work events is a great way to get to know the Santa Cruz cycling community and meet the great folks who ride our roads. Visit the Bike to Work website for more information or to volunteer for Bike to Work.
Become a Master Composter
Master Composters are the volunteer backbone of Santa Cruz County’s Home Composting Program. Master Composters teach people the basics of home composting and inspire Santa Cruz County residents to recycle their yard and kitchen waste at home, work, and school through composting information booths and workshops. For more information and to apply to be a Master Composter, please visit compostsantacruzcounty.org.
Partner Organization Volunteer Events
Ecology Action is a member of the Cleaner Beaches Coalition, a collaborative effort aimed at keeping our beaches and waterways pollution free. The Coalition organizes cleanups throughout the year, and the lead partner organization, Save Our Shores, coordinates the Annual Coastal Cleanup.
Beach Clean-ups
The Cleaner Beaches Coalition organizes beach cleanups every month to help keep Santa Cruz County’s beaches and waterways clean and healthy for all of us to enjoy. Visit the Coalitions website to learn more and register for a cleanup.
Annual Coastal Cleanup needs over 2,000 volunteers every September to help clean up our local beaches and waterways after Summer crowds have gone home for the season and before winter rains wash trash left behind out to sea. Visit the Save Our Shores website to find out more information and to register for the cleanup.
And more! Various volunteer opportunities arise at Ecology Action through our many programs. When your email address is on our list, we will send out an email as the volunteer opportunities arise. If you are interested in volunteering with Ecology Action, please send an email to our volunteer coordinator.
