As Development and Community Relations Director, Elijah is responsible for individual giving, donor communications, and engagement strategies to promote the profile of Ecology Action in the local community. Elijah came to Ecology Action from UC Santa Cruz, where he served for five years as a grant writer for environmental sciences and founder/director of the Broader Impacts Office, a new service that helped scientists broaden the societal impact of their research activities through outreach partnerships with nonprofit organizations and on-campus programs. Prior to transitioning into fund development for nonprofit organizations, Elijah worked as a science teacher and museum exhibit developer. Over the past 13 years, he has helped raised over $22 million in grants and gifts for a wide variety of organizations including environmental groups, botanic gardens, museums, social service agencies, and universities. Elijah is excited to be Ecology Action’s first Director of Development and Community Relations and to help us grow our sustainable transportation and water programs through individual giving.
Elijah earned an M.A. in Museum Studies from John F. Kennedy University, and an MBA at Cal Poly State University – San Luis Obispo.
