WESTSIDE TO MIDTOWN: Safe Route Saturday Ride

All registered participants get a FREE bandana and a $10 snack gift card upon arrival.  Meet at Alta on the Westside and we will use the new Westside Rail Trail, bike lanes on Bay St, the protected two-way cycle track by the Boardwalk, and the improved bike crossing over the San Lorenzo River. FULL - but you can still join the waitlist. 

"May the Fourth Be With You"- Urban Cycling Virtual Workshop with REI 

Biking is on the rise locally and around the world, with increasing numbers of people rediscovering cycling as exercise, recreation, and a great way to get form point A to B. This virtual workshop is a perfect entry for people starting to explore riding a bike during the pandemic, or as a refresher for cyclists who want to hone their riding skills and tune up their knowledge. Register here.

Women/Trans/Femme (WTF) Ride w/ The Bike Church, 4pm-7pm

Join The Bike Church for a WTF-only group ride around town. Ride leaves from 703 Pacific Ave. at 4pm and will return to the Bike Church around 7pm. From 1-3pm, WTF mechanics will be at the shop to help you fix or tune up your bike for the ride. Masks are required during shop time and group ride. More info about the ride here.

MIDTOWN TO SOQUEL: Safe Route Saturday Ride

All registered participants get a FREE bandana and a $10 snack gift card upon arrival.  Meet at Verve Coffee Roasters in Seabright and we’ll take Seabright neighborhood routes to Arana Gulch and pedal through the beautiful open space on the car free multi use trail before making our way through Live Oak on Brommer St. We’ll head into the Jewel Box neighborhood and navigate Wharf Rd. down to Soquel Wharf Rd. Right over to Heart of Soquel Park. FULL - but you can still join the waitlist.

Mother's Day - Bike & Bird, 9:00-11:00 AM

Back for a third year of Bike & Bird, our friends over at the Bird School Project have cooked up a fun ride to explore some local habitats around Arana Gulch. See all the info and register for this ride below, spots are limited! Register here.

Bike Commuting 101 Virtual Workshop, 12:00-1:00 PM

Ready to take your commute to the next level? Learn from the experts about bike commuting basics including hauling gear, what to look for in a solid commuter bike, riding while “business casual”, rush hour rules of the road, and more! Register here.

SOQUEL TO APTOS: Safe Route Saturday Ride

All registered participants get a FREE bandana and a $10 snack gift card upon arrival.  Meet at Soquel Park and we'll ride through the new Heart of Soquel trail over Soquel Creek then do a short jog on E. Walnut Street to Soquel Drive before heading down Capitola Avenue to weave through the neighborhood toward Kennedy Drive and McGregor Drive out toward State Park Drive. We’ll safely cross over Highway 1 as a group before turning our wheels south to Aptos Village. FULL - but you can still join the waitlist.

Watsonville Mayors’ Ride, 9:30am

Meet at the Salsipuedes Creek Levee Path Parking Lot at the corner of Blackburn and Bridge StreetsAll are welcomed and encouraged to pedal the Levee. Approximately 4.5 miles of flat, paved pathway. Face Coverings required. Youth under 18 must have a helmet. 

Intro to E-Bikes Virtual Workshop, 12:00 - 1:00 PM

Are you curious about making your transportation trips easier? Want to learn more about how e-bikes can help conquer your commute, saving you both time and money? EA staff will provide an overview of e-bikes. Topics include FAQs, different e-bike technologies, cost, environmental benefits, and investigate if e-bikes can really replace cars. Register here.

Santa Cruz Ride of Silence, 6:30pm, The Town Clock

The Ride of Silence is a global event taking place on May 19th organized to honor friends, loved ones, and community members killed by cars while riding bikes. The 5-8 mile slow cruise is held in silence, encouraging participants to use that time to appreciate those lost and imagine the future of bicycle safety we expect to see in our community. More event info here. 

WATSONVILLE: Safe Route Saturday Ride

All registered participants get a FREE bandana and a $10 snack gift card upon arrival at Watsonville Cyclery and we'll ride west to Rodriguez Street and make our way to the Watsonville Slough trail toward Ramsay Park. We’ll continue onto Pennsylvania heading up to Struve Slough before turning our wheels south on the Struve Slough trails until we get to Ohlone Parkway and make our way over to the brand-new rail trail segment that’ll connect us to Ford Street and back toward the shop! FULL - but you can still join the waitlist.

'Powered by Me' Demonstration Event | Green Valley Road

Join us to test out projects from the County of Santa Cruz Active Transportation Plan and tell us what you think! We’ll be installing a temporary biking and walking path and intersection improvements on Green Valley Road between Amesti Road and Pinto Lake City Park.  Help us celebrate the first day of the demonstration on May 28th from 5:00-7:00pm. San Lorenzo River Scavenger Hunt from the Coastal Watershed Council 

Walking and bicycling along the Santa Cruz Riverwalk is really fun, but wouldn’t it be more fun with a scavenger hunt in hand? Notice things you haven’t seen before, stop and listen in new places, observe wildlife, and more! Our partners at the Coastal Watershed Council put together two fun scavenger hunts for you to do any time during Bike Month! See all the details here  

'A Cyclist’s Guide to the Wildflowers of Santa Cruz from the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History   

One of the best parts of biking is your ability to hear the birds, smell the air, see the flowers, and connect with nature. Our friends over at the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History have put together this amazing cyclists guide to wildflowers of Santa Cruz. There is a little something in here for everyone from easy routes through town to strenuous routes to see some rare flowers! Check out the guide here and get ready to pedal to petals!
