B&Z provides development, investment, and property management services, and it currently manages a real estate portfolio worth more than $300 million. Over the course of two decades, B&Z has assembled a diverse portfolio that provides the Sacramento region with office, industrial, retail, and recreational properties.

The Challenge
The dynamic lighting requirements of any large commercial office or multi-tenant facility must balance safety, productivity, and operational sustainability. B&Z’s goal was to continue reducing the electric bills at 12+ properties and upgrade to new energy-efficient lighting technology.

The Solution
Following a comprehensive facility audit, Energy Specialists recommended that B&Z pursue retrofit lighting measures that take advantage of the market’s most efficient equipment. These measures were enhanced by rebates made available through SMUD Complete Energy Solutions. The combination of savings from the new lighting and the incentives provided by the utility made it easy for B&Z to agree to comprehensive retrofits.
