The Watsonville Film Festival presents a new film series, Our Mother Earth: Visions and Ideas to Save our Planet.

Upcoming screenings:

Heart of Sky, Heart of Earth – Friday, April 7th at 7 pm

An award-winning film that follows six young Maya in Guatemala and Chiapas through their daily and ceremonial life. They put forth a wholly indigenous Mayan perspective in their own words, without narration, revealing their determination to resist the destruction of their culture and environment.

How to Let Go on the World – Friday, April 21st at 7 pm.

Oscar Nominated director Josh Fox (GASLAND) investigates climate change. Traveling to 12 countries on 6 continents, the film acknowledges that it may be too late to stop some of the worst consequences and asks, what is it that climate change can’t destroy? What is so deep within us that no calamity can take it away?

All shows are at the Appleton Grille, 410 Rodriguez St. in downtown Watsonville. Tickets are $8 at the door – under 18 free. For more information, check out their website here.
