Ecology Action powers programs that help advance climate resilience in communities by providing resources, hands-on tools, training, and perhaps most importantly - connection to others.

Active Transportation

Active transportation is essentially this; human-powered movement. When we use our own energy to get ourselves from place to place, great things naturally happen. We connect with nature, reduce local climate impacts, take a deeper interest in building safer streets, and incorporate routine physical activity into our lives. At Ecology Action, our local active transportation programs have helped thousands of people make the switch to human-powered movement.

Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicles produce zero tailpipe emissions, which means they don't emit harmful pollutants into the atmosphere. This makes them a critical component to our success in delivering on our organizational mission. We act as a catalyst on both sides of the electric vehicle equation; helping folks from all walks of life purchase an electric vehicle and helping property owners install charging station infrastructure at their buildings. All while prioritizing historically underserved communities.

Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to combat climate change -- that's why we've been committed to it for over two decades. Our national commercial energy efficiency programs zero in on the markets that are positioned to have the greatest climate impact by significantly lowering their carbon emissions while also delivering real, tangible financial savings. It's a win for our planet, people and local businesses.

Water Efficiency

Ecology Action designs and executes public education programs to inspire Monterey Bay Area residents and businesses to make water conservation a way of life. This lessens our water dependency on our rivers, reservoirs and groundwater wells and builds climate resilience in our communities against drought and a rapidly warming planet.

Sustainable Food Retail

Supermarkets are the most energy-intensive sector among commercial buildings. Add refrigerants, plastics, food waste, water, solid waste, energy consumption, transportation and other GHG impacts to the mix, and grocery stores quickly represent a huge opportunity to dial back emissions at scale. Our team has worked with over 1,000 grocery stores and 20 chains to help food retailers significantly reduce operating costs and shift workplace cultures to sustainable practices.
