Energy Efficiency: Key to a Low-carbon Future

Electricity production now generates the largest share of greenhouse gas emissions. Building materials, construction and ongoing use are major drivers of emissions. Through direct, on-site sources buildings produce 6% of heat-trapping emissions worldwide. On top of that, utility rates in California are among the highest in the nation and a top operating expenditure for commercial business owners. We have developed expertise in helping businesses maximize energy efficiency to reduce their costs and greenhouse gas emissions. To increase the impact of this important work, Ecology Action has fostered several key initiatives to expand energy efficiency offerings to businesses across the nation.
Ecology Action - Taper

Taper: Building Efficiency

After 15 years of building efficiency work in California, Ecology Action saw multi-site enterprise business holdings as the greatest opportunity for realizing emission reductions at scale. The need to expand this important work beyond California gave rise to Taper, a B-Corp subsidiary of Ecology Action, specializing in scalable building efficiency for companies with numerous built assets. Taper operates as a consulting partner and general contractor, providing the full spectrum of consulting, sourcing, and construction services to help businesses realize massive greenhouse gas reductions and operational savings through building efficiency.
