Sustainable Community-Based Transportation Solutions
From launching Santa Cruz County’s first bike to work day in 1987, to installing EV chargers in affordable housing communities across California today, we believe everyone should have access to safe and sustainable travel options.
Why transportation?
According to the California Energy ComissionCalifornia’s transportation sector accounts for about 50 percent of the state’s greenhouse gas emissions. At Ecology Action, we’re building scalable, equitable solutions to help communities adopt active transportation, electric vehicles, and sustainable infrastructure enhancing accessibility and safety while reducing carbon emissions and improving air quality. We believe that breaking down barriers and encouraging active transportation and EV use are essential steps in building a more equitable, sustainable transportation future.

We are charged up about equitable access to electric vehicles and charging—here’s why.
EV Education and Encouragement
Promoting equitable access to electric vehicles is a vital part of reducing GHG emissions produced by transportation. Through our EVs for Everyone platform, we partner with utilities, manufacturers, and community-based organizations to provide one-on-one assistance to help individuals make the most of available rebates and navigate the EV market.
EV Charging and Infrastructure
Limited access to charging often poses the primary barrier to EV adoption. Our team is pioneering innovative solutions to bring affordable EV charging to the nearly one-third of Californians who live in apartments and condos. Using a direct-installation model, we eliminate many obstacles to charger installation, making it straightforward and cost-effective for property owners to provide EV charging. These innovations build on our decades of leadership in implementing energy and water upgrades for multifamily and commercial properties.
