It’s A Wrap: Youth Transportation Education School Year Results
As the 2021/2022 School year comes to end, we congratulate our students and educators who collectively taught:
- 3,730 1st-3rd grade students pedestrian safety through our Walk Smart Program at 57 schools across the Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, San Mateo and Monterey counties.
- 2,884 4th -8th grade students new cycling skills through our Bike Smart program at 45 schools across Santa Cruz and Monterey counties.
- And, a drum roll for students who learned to ride a bike for the first time. There are now 269 new students ready to roll!
- This year’s program participation brings the total number of students we’ve served to over 11,000 , getting us closer to our goal of making sure that every child in the Monterey Bay Area has access to safe bike and walk training as they grow up.
All of this impact is made possible by our hard working students, educators, school staff, donors, and public funders who believe in creating the next generation of sustainable transportation users who walk and bike safely and regularly for their wellness, enjoyment, and our planet.
We regularly hear stories from our team and volunteers of the great experiences from this program. Enjoy this testimonial from a Bike Smart program:
